Course providers offering regulated qualifications must comply with very tough quality assurance rules and procedures. The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation Ofqual regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England and vocational qualifications in Northern Ireland.
You can verify our qualification on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications here. An Ofqual regulated TEFL qualification will be recognised worldwide and is highly respected by employers.
TQUK have robust quality assurance systems and procedures in place which all course providers must successfully pass in order to be accredited under the scheme.
Potential TEFL course students should remember that their prospective employers are likely to be based outside the UK.
This means that accreditation bodies based solely in the UK may not be recognised by employers abroad. Any qualification that is officially recognised by the UK government will sit on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications.
Make sure to ask your course provider to provide a link to the register for their qualification. You can view our qualification on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications here.
Both acronyms can be used to describe qualifications which certify you to teach English as a foreign language.
Offering a high quality TEFL course that provides students with qualified tutors and leads to a government regulated qualification doesn't come cheap!
TEFL courses sold on daily deal websites are unregulated, unaccredited, lack academic credibility and will not be respected by employers.
If a course is not listed on the Register of Regulated Qualifications, then it is not really a level at all. You can find our qualification on the register here.
If they cannot provide this, then the qualification is not the level they claim it to be and will not be accepted by foreign embassies and employers.

I feel like I learned a lot of useful information, and I left feeling excited and motivated to not only get on with the online part, but also to actually become a teacher abroad.
The teacher that I had was fantastic, she made everything seem fun and exciting. From the moment the course started, she was great.
She was friendly and approachable and made even the most boring parts seem fun. She made everything seem achievable, and put my mind at ease if I had any concerns about either the course of the future.
The teacher had a good approach. Supportive and able to correct our mistakes in a helpful and diligent manner. A variety of people with different experience to share.
Plenty of time to practice and deliver on lesson plans. The teacher had a good approach - confident, knowledgeable, supportive and consistent in correcting our mistakes in a helpful manner.
Her sense of humour and energy kept us going. The instructor alone is all deserving of this score. Judy was engaging and made learning how to TEFL very interesting.
I thought Emma our tutor was great and gave really good insight and advice on how to be a good teacher. She was well prepared and engaging.
Emma was a brilliant teacher, the course was 20 hrs over 2 days and during that time she kept us all engaged, focused, and showed us what it is like to be an EFL teacher.
Her lessons were fun, informative, and the teaching practice, although was a little nerve-racking, was particularly useful.
She even made learning Grammar quite exciting, an achievement in itself! Meeting people that were doing the same thing as me was also good and it was great to share ideas.
Emma was such a great teacher, from teaching us grammar, to how to create a lesson plan, from teaching us new words in another language, to sharing her experiences - She really made those 20 hours not seem like 20 hours at all.
Judy was extremely professional and engaging. The lessons were planned really efficiently, effectively and wonderfully, so you had a teaser of what to expect and new what was to come.
She also managed to make the time fly in an otherwise intensive schedule! The content was very useful and hugely engaging, covering a wide breadth of subjects in a surprising amount of detail given the time frame.
